Time off…

Well, I’ve been benched for a few days.

My publisher is having me take a few days off to burn off some overtime I’ve accumulated. As frustrating as it is, as I have things to do, I definitely appreciate it. I don’t think I realized quite how fatigued I was.

I’m off for three days starting today, then two days next week as well once layout and production are done early in the week.

As much as I wasn’t wanting or planning for the downtime, I’m definitely going to take advantage of it. I’ve been doing some reading up in my photography magazines and playing some Red Dead Redemption II.

My plan for the rest of the weekend is to get some graphic design stuff done for Lynn, study, cut the lawn, and generally take it easy after what has been by all accounts a busy couple of weeks.

This week has been especially rough, as we had a scare with poor Taffy on Monday. She fell off the bed and was having trouble walking on Monday morning. We managed to get her an emergency appointment with the vet and he in turn diagnosed her with sudden onset doggy vertigo (not its actual name), something common in older canines.

According to Dr. Ferrier, the vet we saw, it is a common condition and he sees half a dozen or more cases of the condition per year. She is slowly getting better, but she is still not herself, nor is she wanting to eat. We’ve been getting some chicken broth into her, but that is about it.

I was in the office Tuesday to Thursday this week as one of the owners of the company I work for was supposed to come into market on one of the days. He didn’t end up coming out, but still I had a productive time in the office.

At any rate, after a busy few weeks, I’m looking forward to the downtime.
