My last day home before I head east for a a week or two has been productive.
I finished two stories and a column for my local paper, as well as getting next week’s devotional video for B edited and uploaded.
In addition to the productivity, I was dealing with the plumber this morning, as we found out last night that there was a leak in one of the pipes running through the wall in my office’s closet. We found the leak late last night, and he was kind enough to come over today and investigate the issue, even though he wasn’t intending to work today.
I guess it’s one of the joys of owning a home.
The necessary repairs are stressful for a few reasons. The fact that I am going to be gone while the work is getting done and the associated costs of the repairs being chief among them. Still, we have no choice but to get the repairs made before the problem is compounded.
I can remember a time when an issue like this popping up would paralyze me. I would shut down and not want to deal with it. Yet, it would have to get dealt with.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely not happy about the work needing to be done; however, it is what it is. We’re going to deal with it, and move on There is absolutely zero sense focusing on the issue at the expense of all else. My response to this issue tells me just how far I have come in my recovery.
I’m happy that I got as much done today as I have. I’m still going to have work to do while I am away, but getting done the things I did will definitely make things a little easier in the long run.
Still to be done today is some studying, working through the first module of my course, getting my meds together, and packing for my trip. I do have some work to do tomorrow on my way out of town, taking a few pictures for an upcoming edition of the paper. Once that is done, I’m hitting the highway.

I’m not looking forward to the drive, because any way you slice it, the drive to Lynn’s mom’s place is long. Still, aside from being there to help out her mom, I think this time away might be good for me. It will get me out of my routine, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I’m taking my camera bag and my school stuff with me, so I’m hoping to take some photos and get some studying done, as well as a bit of work that I’m able to do remotely.
