For the second time since the new year rang in, I screwed up and forgot my night-time meds.

The problem is, without the meds, I don’t sleep. Unfortunately, by the time I realized what had happened, and why I wasn’t sleeping, it was four in the morning, and if I took my meds then I wouldn’t have been functioning this morning. Gritting and bearing it was the lesser of two evils, though it’s definitely made me tired today. Still, I did manage to get a couple of hours of sleep, which helped.

We were up and out the door a little after ten this morning, heading in to Stettler to trade in our venerable 2002 Ford Explorer which we have driven for the last six or seven years. Unfortunately, over the last few years it’s been developing some problems, and it was time to let it go. In it’s stead, we purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass, which is the newest vehicle either of us have owned, and because we were picking it up today it was the reason I needed to be functional.

I’m definitely paying for it tonight though. I’m going to be heading to bed earlier than normal and trying to get some good sleep tonight, so I can be functional tomorrow.

I have a late morning interview in the morning, as well as several stories to write, and some studying to do, so tomorrow is going to be a full day.

Aside from kicking myself over forgetting my meds, I still feel that I am doing fairly well. I just need to be more careful with taking my meds because sleep is critical for me. I know that when my sleep gets messed up bad things can happen. I’m just hoping that this isn’t going to mess me up too badly, and that I can get back on top of things quickly. I know I should be able to, but I also know what I need to do if I can’t.

I’m finally starting to make some headway on my school assignment. It’s been a slog though. I finally realized that what was screwing me up is that the four readings for the assignment were all in digital format. I found that by downloading and printing them, I’ve been retaining a lot more of what I’m reading. It’s a little thing, but it’s making a big difference. I just find that I do not absorb information that well when the information to digest is in a digital format. Oh well, I’ve figured it out, so that’s what matters.

I’m the same way with reading anything else. If I’m travelling, I’ll download a couple e-books to my tablet, but when I’m home I definitely prefer to break out a paperback. Call me old school.

Speaking of paperbacks, I just finished Michael Connelly’s “The Night Fire,” which is fantastic. I’m planning on doing a full review of it in the next few days while the memory is still fresh.
