It is safe to say that we are living in times unprecedented in our generation.

The numbers of people becoming infected with the Covid-19 bug continue to increase across the province, and the world. Fortunately the cases in the province are growing at a slower level than anticipated, thanks to the effects of social distancing. Of the over 1600 cases confirmed in the province, fewer than 300 have been linked to community transmission, further reflecting the efficacy of what the government is asking us to do.

However, the news is not all good. The deaths from the virus continue to rise, though again at a slower rate than expected.

I’ve written previously how routine has helped me through this time of stress, and it is no less true today. Making time to write and learn have been two of the biggest things keeping me going, especially amid the loss of Sirius.

One thing in particular that I have been focusing on is working with and learning Adobe’s Lightroom to clean up photos. The photos here are from an exploration shoot with a friend back January. As you can see in the first photo, the image is dark, grey, and not very pleasant, whereas the second is much more pleasing to the eye.

I have been learning a lot about Lightroom through some educational tutorials posted on Adobe’s website, and now that I’m getting to know the software better, I am able to clean up photos non-destructively.

Another thing I love about the software is how intuitive it is to learn. It’s also quick. The few changes I made to both sets of these photos took me a matter of minutes.

I look forward to taking more photos to play with using this software in months to come.
