Movie Review: “Bad Boys for Life” (No spoilers)

“Bad Boys, Bad Boys, Whacha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”

The “Bad Boys” are back, in a fairly solid movie. I’m don’t mind movie sequels, however the further between a movie and it’s successor, the less inclined I am to like it. It’s especially bad when they come over a decade after the previous installment in a series.

Bad Boys for Life is one of the few exceptions. The movie has the blend of action and comedy that one would expect from the series, and despite the time between the sequels, Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett and Will Smith’s Mike Lowry don’t miss a beat.

The basic plot of the movie has someone from Lowry’s past wanting him dead, but all is not as it seems. Through the two hour run time of the movie, he, along with a new generation of younger cops, attempts to unlock the mystery of who wants him dead, and why. He even manages to call Marcus out of retirement to get to the bottom of the case.

The movie is full mod the comedy, drama, and high-octane action the “Bad Boys” movies are known for, and “Bad Boys for Life” is a worthy successor to the first two movies in the series.

About the only thing I disliked about the movie was the blatant plot hook inserted in the end credits setting up a fourth movie, which this show could have easily done without, even with plans to do another film.

Overall, I give “Bad Boys for Life” a 4/5.
