Today was busy!
Up and out the door early, conference most of the day, then my first workout in a few days. Damn that felt good.
This evening I joined B for supper on his birthday. Still trying to figure out how he ended up cooking on his birthday, but I appreciate the gesture!
After supper I mowed the back yard, then settled in and played L.A. Noire for awhile. That is one game I still haven’t finished, so am kind of happy to be getting back to it. It’s a great Rockstar game, though definitely nowhere near as polished as Red Dead Redemption 2.
Tomorrow is a road trip to Stettler to pick up meds and run to Walmart, then I stop to collect the fur-kids from the kennel on the way home. Tomorrow afternoon is going to be working on stories, interviews, and generally taking a low key afternoon.
B gave me a good piece of advice that was passed on to him. He said, “never work more than six blocks.” He then broke down that by breaking a day into morning, afternoon, and evening with each being a block. Basically what he’s saying is don’t work all day everyday for more than two days straight.
As someone whose schedule wanders into all three “blocks” of the day, the advice definitely makes sense. If I push myself too hard, I won’t be in any shape to look after anyone else. It’s definitely advice I will be taking into consideration.
Mentally, today has been a mixed day. The conference was good, and people seemed genuinely happy to have me there to write about what they are doing vs just being there to point the fingers when things blow up. Today’s conference was a Regional Emergency Services educational conference designed to foster communication between all the members of the region, so that all the communities can be protected when mother nature rears her ugly head.
After the conference, and in fits and spurts through the afternoon and evening my anxiety has been peaking, and I don’t know why. It hasn’t been bad enough to warrant taking anything, but the feelings have been disconcerting none the less. Hopefully things level out tomorrow.
I have had a very purry kitty this evening. Willow has been very happy to have me home, and equally happy that she has had the run of the house. I almost feel guilty bringing the dogs home tomorrow. Almost.
