Making gains, slowly but surely

Yesterday was a good day.

We had church in the morning, followed by lunch that had us visiting until 1430, then a quick run to Halkirk for some photos of the family BINGO being held at the hall. After we got home it was time for a workout and then a stay at home date night.

My workout yesterday was a low impact 2 1/4 miles on the treadmill. I am starting to see and feel the gains I am making by doing the consistent workouts. My pace is increasing, my resting heart rate is dropping, and I’m not feeling as tired as I once did.

An added perk is my weight is slowly dropping as well. I am nearly down to sub 250lbs which is not a weight I’ve been able to get to, let alone stay at consistently, for years.

The process has definitely been much more of a marathon than a sprint. It’s taken time and consistency to get to this point. I’ve been pushing myself to do at least a mile a day on the treadmill, I’ve been watching what I eat, and portion sizes. My step count is still set for 10,000 a day, but I have been averaging 12,000. I’ve been making my step count most days, but even if I don’t I’m still making sure I get my time in on the treadmill.

The payoff has been worthwhile. I’m losing size off my waist. I feel like I have more energy, and my moods are definitely stabilizing again.

Combining that to my being more aware of what I’m biting off commitment wise, overall I feel like I am in a way better place than I was just a couple short weeks ago.

I know I must remain vigilant, that it is way too easy to slide in complacency. I know that the way I am feeling now is not a permanent state, but I can enjoy it while it lasts, and use the tools I’m developing now to help me when I invariably slide again.

Thanks for following along on my journey,
