The PS4 is getting to be an older system and rumours run rampant on the internet that the PS5 is in development. That does not take away from the fact that as a game console it is still a great system, with many great titles that have been released.
While 2018 has seen some games crash and burn on launch (I’m looking at you Fallout 76…) others have pushed the aging tech to levels unseen before in a game console.

Red Dead Redemption 2 released earlier this year, and is arguably the best game released in this console generation. The graphics are incredible, even on the base PS4, and I’m only a few hours in, but the voice acting, main story, and side missions seem to be very well done.
The side missions I’ve played so far to raise some cash have been varied, not falling into the repetitive nature seen in some other open world games. The dialogue between the player character and the NPCs seems organic and not forced.
Mainly due to lack of funds I very rarely buy a triple-A title at full price, however due to some Christmas money, I bought RDR2. I can say in complete honesty that it is worth the $80/cad. Rockstar managed to knock this game right out of the park.
From what I have seen of RDR2 so far, I have barely scratched the surface, let alone the online component, and I look forward to getting deeper into the story as time allows.
RDR2 is definitely worth picking up, and is as close to perfect as a video game can get.
