Wow, where does the time go?
I can’t believe I haven’t updated my blog since August.
Things have been busy with work, school, and my photography. I picked up a photography contract for a local organization where I was taking calendar photos and filming a series of videos. The project has been a lot, but it has been a great experience builder. I’m in the tail-end of the project now and am looking forward to it wrapping.
As far as school goes, I am still plugging away at my Pre-confederation Canadian History course. I’m enjoying the course, but it has been a lot. It’s been a fairly heavy course. I have a little over a month to finish off the course and I have two modules left; I’m thinking I’m going to have to extend again, which I am less than happy about, but it is what it is.
Work has been keeping me busy as well. There have been plenty of events going on and a never-ending supply of interviews for the to-do list.
I ended up having to take some time off at the end of gust and the beginning of September because I was just burnt out. The depression hit came back and hit like a ton of bricks. However, I did make it through with minimal impact; I took a few days off, got some rest, and managed to bounce back fairly quickly, without a trip to the hospital. This was a definite improvement over times past.
September kept me really busy with work, and then I got some time off to start October as well, actual holidays this time. I took time off to take part in the online Adobe Max conference. It was great; I learned a lot, am blown away by some of the updates to the Adobe software I use and am actually going to be making one changes to my workflows.
Later the same week, on Oct. 18, Lynn and I hit the road for Calgary for a concert. Headlining the show was alt-rock group Evanesence. We had no idea who the opening acts were going to be as they weren’t on the tickets. I was psyched when I found out that one of the acts was a group called Halestorm. I’ve listened to lead singer Lzzy Hale before where she has dueted with some other singers I listen to and Halestorm didn’t disappoint.

We head back home today, and things get back to normal beginning Monday. After this downtime, I need to refocus on a few things. While work is an obvious one, refocusing on school and my fitness are also going to be important. I have been working out a couple times a week, but I have been struggling with managing my weight which has been frustrating as hell.
I need to get this school course done, and I need to get this contract knocked off. I think my plan is to knock off the the contract, focus on the course, then take a month off where I just have work to focus on.
Mentally, despite my blip in August, I am feeling great. I honestly don’t know that I have ever felt stronger. I’ve been making some changes that have been helping; I’ve been reducing my screen time at night, I’ve been journaling every night, and I have been listening to performance podcasts that have been giving me tips for life. The three I’ve been listening to are the Rich Roll podcast, Finding Mastery, and The Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck.
My mind is calm and I am feeling great.
