Getting back on track…

Suffice it to say, the last couple of weeks have not gone according to plan.

I had myself into a fairly stringent workout routine, however, I needed to take a few days off as we headed to Saskatchewan for my wife’s cousin’s wedding. As I had been keeping myself consistent, I didn’t think a few days away would be an issue.

Today was my first day back in the gym in over two weeks because, reasons…

While in Saskatchewan, I had one of those moments where my brain thought something was a good idea, and my body thought I was a moron. Unfortunately, my body was correct, and I ended up injuring myself.

As I was recovering from that injury, I picked up a wicked summer head cold that decided to hold on tight for a little over a week. Today was the first day in a few that my lungs actually weren’t giving me any problems.

It hasn’t been all bad news though; over the last few days I have gotten some solid coursework done on my history course and I am just about ready to submit my first assignment. However, with how busy things have been at work, I have no choice but to extend the course a couple of months; hopefully, that’s all I need.

At the risk of being all work and no play, the other half and I took a road trip to Red Deer yesterday. We met up with some Calgary friends to go see Deadpool and Wolverine. That movie is so wrong, yet so right, I can’t explain it.

It has been a long time since a movie as hyped as this one was actually lived up to the hype. While I am not going to get into spoiler territory, if you ae a fan of the previous Deadpool movies, you will definitely be a fan of this one.

Something I appreciated about the movie was that despite it being a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, and some knowledge of the events in the series was definitely beneficial, it was written in such a way that the viewer was not expected to be completely up to date with all the Marvel shows and movies.

If all Marvel movies followed the writing of Deadpool and Wolverine, the MCU would be on significantly better footing. Here’s hoping that some lessons were learned by the executives.

Today, being a holiday across Canada, I laid pretty low, sleeping in and doing a bunch of school work. As noted, I got a workout in as well. While it was definitely not up to speed with where I was a couple weeks ago, it definitely felt good being back at it.
