They say time flies when you’re having fun; I should be having the time of my life.
I can’t believe we are already half-way through 2024.
It feels like it was January, I blinked, and now it’s July. Seriously, how did that happen?
May and June have been crazy busy with work, even if it has not been the best of times with with my mental health.
The beginning of May was rough. I ended up in a dark place, feeling depressed and suicidal.
There may be a few reasons why the beginning of May was rough. One, I got super busy; two, after eight years I started with a new psychologist, and three, I’ve been on my current med regime forever.
Fortunately, the blip at the beginning of May was short-lived, thanks to several intense sessions with my new psychologist which helped me reframe my thinking.
Since our last session, I’ve gotten back into a workout routine of weights one day and cardio the next. I’ve been consistent for the last two weeks, though today is the first day I’m taking off as I woke up with my back hurting like hell.
I’m on my annual work “holiday” in Ponoka covering that community’s weekly rodeo and the hotel bed, while comfortable, is doing me no favours. Fortunately, I have only one more night before heading home tomorrow.

I’ve been enjoying my time here, and I have been getting some good shots.
Once I get back into reality, I will be back in the office on Wednesday and then take part of Thursday off to recover from this weekend. I also see my new psychiatrist for a med-review on Thursday. While I’m hoping for no major changes, I’m hoping to maybe remove some meds which I don’t know that are actually helping. We shall see.
I’m not against meds, obviously. I’ve been on them for a long time, and I have met me off meds. It’s not fun, and there is definitely a place for them; that said, I also believe in being on the bare-minimum it takes to get the job done. It is so easy to get over-medicated in this day and age, its not even funny.
As far as my fitness regime goes, I’ve been averaging a 50-minute workout a day. I even got one in yesterday at the hotel’s fitness centre. However, with my back being as sore as it is, the fact that today stands to be a long day, and 14 days is a pretty good stretch in anyone’s book, I don’t think one or two down days is going to be a bad thing.
The major catch is going to be making sure this break only lasts a day or two and doesn’t stretch out longer. However, with the routine I currently have set up, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I have to admit, I’ve been feeling better since I started this new routine. I’m sleeping better. My concentration is better. My focus is better.

All the benefits are there. I just need to keep grinding and not let myself slide back.
