Knowing your limits…

Sometimes you have to know what your limits are.

Lynn and I are on our annual excursion to the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.

While I’ve been having a good time catching up with our Calgary friends and taking in some of the panels at Expo, after the first couple of days I was mentally and physically drained just from all the people.

I was debating on giving yesterday a miss so that I could go today; however, I ended up making it down to the grounds a little later than everyone else. While the traffic on the Saturday was not as bad as in years past, there were still lots of people and I was having second thoughts about going in within minutes of getting down there.

I made it to several panels I wanted to attend, including Michelle Hurd’s of Star Trek: Picard, and Blindspot fame. She is quite the speaker, and I am glad I made it down to the grounds, but I have to admit that whatever ability to people I had was shot by the end of the day.

I ended up hopping the C-train and leaving early completely mentally and physically drained. I got a good night’s sleep, but still feeling mentally exhausted I opted to give the final day a miss.

While I am glad I made it for the first three days, I feel very over-stimulated and am grateful to have a day of relative quiet.

That said, I wouldn’t change a thing. I love attending Expo. It’s a great place to get your geek on, pick up your pop-culture swag, and meet and greet celebrities. I’m glad I came.

I’m also glad I know where my limits are and can honour them.

On the bright side, I’m finally catching up on Amazon’s Fallout TV series.
