A few months ago, I was able to take part in a Canon Creator’s event hosted in Calgary at McMahon Stadium.
The event was sponsored by Canon and a Calgary-based camera shop at the beginning of June and was open to creators from all over the region.
As part of the event, creators were able to test drive a variety of fairly newly released cameras and lenses; I ended up trying out a Canon R6, a full-frame mirrorless camera.
Event organizers also arranged to have a variety of talent on-site for the event, with models dressed in a variety of sports-themed attire.

Things have been so hectic these last few months that I have not had the opportunity to actually look at the photos I collected from the event before now, and looking through them, I feel like I have found my community.
It felt good being able to attend an event like that, where people connected over a joint purpose. I learned a few things as well, as far as posing models and being aware of backgrounds as well.
In total, the event lasted a couple of hours, but I feel it was well worth the drive to the city for it. After the event finished, I ended up heading up to Nose Hill Park, one of my favourite areas in Calgary, but somewhere I have not been back to in years and managed to get a few shots.

Despite the wobble I had with my mental health during September, I feel like I am on the mend, crawling my way out of the seasonal depression which was plaguing me. I know that the creator’s conference last week helped a lot in that department.
I’m glad this wobble was relatively short-lived, and that I am getting back into the swing of things again.
I appreciate everyone who reached out, the support means a lot.
