Another course down….

And that is another course down.

In what was the most brutal final exam I have had to write to date, I wrote my English Poetry and Plays final at the end of July. The exam was such a challenge that I honestly would have been happy with just a pass; I ended up scoring my lowest final exam score to date with a 65 per cent.

Still, my marks during the rest of the course had been sufficient enough that even with the low mark on the final I was able to complete the course with a B- overall mark. While my grade point average may have taken a hit, I’ll be happy to take the three credits.

With the English course done, I have a couple months to direct energy into finishing off my Psychology course, though with how much I have before me I may end up extending that one as well, depending on how my next month goes.

Once I get the Psychology course done, I will be one-quarter the way through my degree. I think it will also be time to maybe take a month and figure out next steps.

My intention is still to transfer into the Bachelor of Professional Arts in Communications when I have the appropriate credits, however, I will still be 30 credits shy of being able to transfer into that program so it will be continuing on with the English and History courses for a bit yet.

That said, I’m also contemplating taking a couple month break from my university studies and taking my Alberta Private Investigator’s licence course, which could have some benefit for my current role as a journalist.

The course would introduce me to a variety of investigative techniques, as well as provide me a solid foundation with Canadian Freedom of Information and Privacy laws, and other pertinent acts.

The cost of the course isn’t a huge investment, and I feel the benefits could be worth it, though licensing is around $200 a year, which I’m not sure if it would be worth it. Still, could be a nice added certification, I don’t know.

Like I say, they are things I am contemplating, but they are decisions for another day.

At the moment I am wrapping a week of holidays, which have been a nice, and much-needed, break from work.

When I do get back, I will be hitting the ground running; I ended up sick my last couple days before work so was unable to finish off some work I had in the queue, plus August is already scheduled to be a very busy month. It’s all good though.
