One benefit of the nice weather we’ve been having is it has given me the ability to get out and do a bit of shooting.
Earlier this week, over the long-weekend and after work Tuesday and Wednesday, I was able to get out and see some of the back-country along the northern edge of the county.

As far as the water situation goes, things are looking pretty grim. Dugouts, streams, and rivers are all significantly lower than they should be. One wetland area that I regularly check out to shoot water fowl is completely barren.
In short, we need some rain.
Still, being able to get out in the gorgeous weather does have its perks.
On Monday when I went out, the entire area was socked in by smoke from the wildfires that are currently ravaging the province. The smoke made for some surreal images.
Tuesday, thanks to a mercifully short town council meeting, Lynn and I were able to head out again. This time we brought Clara Belle, our Black Lab with us for an adventure. While the wildlife was being pretty camera-shy on this trip, I still managed to get a few decent images.

On Wednesday, after another short evening meeting, I headed back out. This time I was solo as Lynn was at Bingo. For this trip, I did the same circuit as I did on Tuesday, this time in reverse. Perseverence paid off.

On this trip I managed to get several decent images of a hawk and a few decent shots of an elk.
Unfortunately, this is going to be it for a few days as far as getting out goes. I need to dig in and make some progress on my school work. I think I am going to be extending my English course as May has just flown by without getting as much work done on it as I would have liked. And while I am not at extension point yet for my Psychology course, I do have some significant work to do to get caught up with that one as well.

Plus, work is definitely entering a busy stretch. It’s all good though. I’m loving where things are at.
